Huntington Operation

Abstract
An idea of transplant of fibula to bridge a defect in the tibia was originated by Hahn in 1884. And Huntington reported grafting a defect in the tibial shaft 5 inches long in 1905. Because the fibula of the affected leg was transplanted to bridge in two stages, there was always a blood supply to one end of the transplant.
A defect in the tibia secondary to osteomyelitis in a five-year-old boy was treated with a good result by Huntington two-stage transplantation of the fibula.
